Solving a Storage Capacity Bottleneck for Standard Textile

CUSTOMER: Standard Textile

The Challenge

Founded in 1940 and backed by more than 70 patents, Standard Textile has built its reputation on durability, longevity and value.

That growth caught up with its Hebron, KY facility: rising sales meant more raw material and finished goods needed to be stored and accessed. And, the existing setup couldn't keep up. Bales could only be bulk-stacked two high, wasting vertical cube space and limiting selectivity. Palletized cases stacked a little better but still fell short on selectivity, and locating the right material for production was slow going.

The Solution

The Engineered Solutions team at Raymond Storage Concepts (RSC) studied Standard Textile's activity, facility and growth trajectory, then designed and installed a Unarco push-back rack system built around the way the facility actually operates.

  • Bales are double-stacked on the floor in a two-deep drive-in configuration, with three levels of push-back rack installed above the floor loads.
  • Double columns run to the first beam height for rigidity.
  • Front columns are wood-filled to 24 inches to absorb impacts.
  • End-aisle rack guards plus bright-yellow column protectors add another layer of protection.
  • Aisles were widened to 110 inches to improve space utilization.

To match the new rack system, RSC deployed a mixed Raymond fleet built for each task:

  • Stand-up counterbalance trucks handle floor-loaded bales and dock work.
  • Reach forklifts maintain capacity at height for the push-back levels.
  • Orderpickers handle case selection at every level.

The Results

Standard Textile now stores more product in the same footprint, with rack and fleet built specifically around how bales and cases move through the Hebron facility—from floor to push-back level to order pick. The added rack guards and column protection give the operation a safer environment to work in day to day.
