The Solution
The Engineered Solutions team at Raymond Storage Concepts (RSC) analyzed Specialized's current state and future requirements, then recommended and installed a 24-volt motorized-driven roller conveyor system.
A motor-driven roller every 36 inches keeps the system simple, reliable and modular. Two conveyor runs, each lined with eight pack stations, carry finished cartons through a new automated Cubiscan system that automatically captures length, width, height and weight—data that feeds directly into more accurate freight costing.
From there, cartons make a 90-degree turn onto a modified trailer-loading conveyor that RSC integrated with the existing equipment, ready for shipment.
The system's programmability lets different zones run at different speeds, eliminating the need for multiple conveyor types. Simplified controls remove the need for an air compressor in the accumulation zones, cutting total cost of ownership, while precise carton spacing keeps orders properly gapped for shipping prep.
"We implemented a solution that not only increased Specialized's shipping capacity, but also improved ergonomics and streamlined warehouse operations."
The Results
Specialized now runs a single, modular conveyor system in place of a patchwork of components—one built to hold required carton spacing, feed accurate freight data and flex as pack station speeds change. Because the system is scalable, RSC continues to work with Specialized to meet the business's needs as it grows.
